Flash flood creates havoc in Dumporijo; 120 families affected

DAPORIJO, Sept 18: Flash flood and land falls triggered by heavy rain created havoc in Dumporijo on Saturday evening, affecting more than 100 families.
Sudden rise in water level of Reme stream flooded various colonies, including Fishery, Nehru, Yomdo, Shanti and many other places at Dumporijo in which many families were rendered homeless.
The flash flood coupled with heavy landslides caused heavy damages to both public and private properties, including roads, culverts, retaining walls etc.
Scores of domestic animals were also reportedly washed away by the flash flood.
Daporijo also witnessed heavy rain falls but there were no reports of damages.
Meantime, Dumporijo ADC Otem Jamoh along with PRI members and representative of Sub-divisional Disaster Management Committee inspected the affected areas to take stock of the situation.
Deputy Commissioner AK Singh and SP Taru Gusar also visited the affected area on Sunday.
The assessment of properties lost or damaged has already started and it is expected to complete on Monday as informed by the ADC.
BJP to extend support to PPA

ITANAGAR, Sept 18: BJP will extend outside support to Pema Khandu's People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) govt.
North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) Convener Himanta Biswa Sarma said that BJP would extend outside support to Khandu led PPA government in Arunachal while addressing a press conference in Itanagar.
However, Sarma said that the BJP is in no hurry to take direct part in PPA government saying that a decision will be taken at Centre considering the current political situation.
Sharma said that through NEDA, various issues of the North-East could be taken up collectively in Delhi. The NEDA will be the best platform to resolve the issues confronting the region, he said. He informed that all NEDA Chief Ministers will have opportunity to interact with nine South-Asian countries in early October.
On current financial deficits of Arunachal Pradesh, Sharma stated that under NEDA, the problem will be taken up with centre.
He hoped that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would see to the development and progress of the state.
Meanwhile, a joint coordination meeting was held on Sunday between BJP and PPA to discuss the modalities of alliance in the state.
The coordination meeting was chaired by Himanta Biswas Sharma along with Chief Minister Pema Khandu in presence of state Unit BJP President Tapir Gao and DCM Chowna Mein.
The BJP President Amit Shah had launched North East Democratic Alliance in Guwahati in early July forging an alliance of non-Congress ruled states to join with BJP led NDA.
Former Chief Minister late Kalikho Pul took part in the first meeting and formally joined NEDA.
However, even before the party over launching of NEDA was over, the Supreme Court reinstated the Congress govt in the state.
…Himanta Biswa Sharma said NEDA would provide a platform to Assam and Arunachal to resolve vexed boundary issue where both the CMs can sit informally to resolve the vexed boundary issue.
ZFM goes bigger

ITANAGAR, Sept 18: Ziro Festival of Music (ZFM) is only getting better with each passing year in the serene Ziro plateau.
And thanks to the growing popularity of the fest, DONER ministry is also doing its bit along with the state tourism department.
"DONER ministry has also provided fund for the festival this time," informed the director of the fest, Bobby Hano.
A total of 32 bands from all over the globe will be participating in the 5th edition of the much awaited festival from Sep 22-25.
Among the three international bands performing this year- Shye Ben Tzur is from Israel, Gramlines from Italy and the third is Gambia based Dawda Jobarteh.
DJ Bom, Yesterdrive and The Royal Flush are the performers from the host state.
Apart from the music scenario, art installations made from leftover bamboos will be seen adorning the event area.
"There will be more art installations made from bamboo leftovers this time," Bobby said.
With setting up of atleast six camping sites apart from the more than 50 home stays and many hotels in and across Ziro, accommodation has also been taken care of for the four days musical extravaganza.
"Till last time, there were only one camping site, but this time five more teams have set up camps increasing the intake capacity for the fest," shared the director.
Apart from the older lot, the kids coming to the fest too will have their share of fun.
"A recreational area will be set up for the kids with support of Decathlon- a sports brand", Bobby said.
26 MLAs as parliamentary secretary
ITANAGAR, Sept 18: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu appointed 26 MLAs as parliamentary secretary on Sunday.
Khandu administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new parliamentary secretaries, including two women, in a simple function here in the presence of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) Convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma.
This is the first time that a large number of MLAs were appointed as parliamentary secretaries in the state.
Of the newly appointed parliamentary secretaries, six are former ministers -- Phosum Khimhum, Gojen Gadi, Jarkar Gamlin, Phurpa Tsering, Thangwang Wangham and Thirong Aboh.
The others are C T Mein, Punji Mara, Jambey Tashi, P D Sona, Bamang Felix, Likha Saaya, Markio Tado, Gum Tayeng, Karya Bagang, Tapuk Taku, Kumsi Sidisow, Nikh Kamin, Techi Kaso, Mutchu Mithi, Pani Taram, Tatung Jamoh, Mama Natung, Nyamar Karbak, Zingnu Namchoom and Dikto Yekar.
The portfolios of the parliamentary secretaries would be allocated soon. (PTI)

Two year is a long time in a person's life. And when it concerns the development of the state, it is more precious. Ever since BJP led NDA came to power at centre and Congress under the leadership of Nabam Tuki won Arunachal, the state has been witnessing intense political storm.
The last two year has been lost in political in-flight. The second part of Nabam Tuki's tenure was lost in fire-fighting the rebellion within Congress ranks. Though BJP and its leader including MoS Home Kiren Rijiju tried to portray political instability as Congress in-fight but everyone knew that it was aided by BJP.
But BJP cannot be blamed here. Every political party will resort to any means to finish off its rival. Congress themselves in the past has been accused of using central fund as means to punish its rival. The grand old party miserably failed to keep its flock together in the state.
However, what has saddened everyone is that in the process of bitter political battle, former Chief Minister Kalikho Pul had to lose his life.
What prompted Pul to commit suicide remains a mystery but it is widely assumed that he killed himself due to betrayal by his own colleagues.
With his death, a wife lost a husband, a son lost his father and Arunachal lost a bright son of the soil. His death has forced many of us to wonder if politics really is so dirty.
As Pema Khandu government under PPA starts a new inning as partner of NDA, Arunachal will be hoping that till 2019, there will be no more political instability.
Only two and half year is remaining for the present government to implement their developmental agenda. This two and half year is very crucial for the future of the state. The present government will have to make up for the lost time. The role of BJP, in particularly that of MoS Home Kiren Rijiju will be crucial as he is the link between state and central government.
Rijiju is starting to feel the anti-incumbency factor. His honeymoon period is over as voters are starting to ask some tough questions to him regarding the promises made at the time of election.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu has been honest in telling people of Arunachal that Congress MLAs joined PPA with the hope of better support from centre to deal with precarious financial situation.
The political crisis has caused restlessness among the citizens. Especially the youths of Arunachal are worried about future as economy is in tatters and only rich and those with political connection are enjoying. The poor are struggling to get petty contract work which is the main source of income for vast majority of Arunachalees. Time is really running out and there is need for fresh start. Till 2019 election, political parties should forget their differences and work together for the sake of state.
The people of Arunachal should also create healthy atmosphere for government to implement all the development activities.
It is easy for citizens to blame everything on politicians and government but they also need to look into themselves and ponder whether they are being responsible citizens or not. Let us all be partner in development.
Congress blames Centre for Arunachal fiasco
New Delhi, Sept 18: The Congress on Friday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP of "foul play" and committing a "fraud on democracy" after Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu alongwith 42 Congress MLAs quit the party and joined Peoples Party of Arunachal (PPA).
"Modi's and BJP's (Bharatiya Janata Party) foul play and fraud on democracy has come to a full circle in Arunachal Pradesh today," Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala told reporters. Khandu. PTI
"PPA is the illegitimate child of the BJP's diabolical design to decimate democracy," he alleged.
"Mandate of the people of the border state of Arunachal has been robbed in broad day light," Surjewala said.
Surjewala also said that the "prodigal sons of Congress" who have jumped ship have made "massive ideological and political blunder and compromise".
"They have also destroyed trust of people of Arunachal Pradesh, who voted for them as candidates of Congress. Such politics, as we are seeing in Arunachal Pradesh, is neither tenable nor credible," the Congress leader added.
Arunachal has vast scopes for cultural tourism: Tuki

ITANAGAR, Sept 18: Arunachal Pradesh has vast scopes for development of various types of tourism activities; and cultural tourism is one of them, said former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.
Arunachal has 26 major tribes and more than 100 sub-tribes having their own language and cultural identities which offer ample opportunities for development of tourism, said Tuki while addressing the programme, "Colours of Culture" organized by Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC), Itanagar in collaboration with Don Bosco Alumni, Itanagar.
"Our culture is the source of our dignity and people appreciate us for the variety we exhibit," Tuki said.
He called for preservation of these age-old culture and traditions passed down from one generation to another.
Tuki acknowledged the contribution made by DBYC in developing employable skills among the unemployed youths, many of whom are working even abroad. It is a matter of great pride for all of us, he said.
Tuki, however, opined that the youth needs to develop work culture.
"Today, young people are moving away from tradition and culture. The need of the hour is to instill in them the love for their culture, said President of Don Bosco Alumni, Itanagar Jathi Pulu in his message.
Students and Youth from various schools of capital complex, Kerala Kala Samskarika Vedi and DBYC skill trainees attended the programme.
Recognize Eda Moyong as martyr: family

PASIGHAT, Sept 18: The family members of Late Eda Moyong, who served as Public Interpreter (PI) during North East Frontier Agency (NEFA) period have yet again appealed the authorities to recognise and declare him a martyr.
Moyong had died while in duty at Tuting in present Upper Siang district. He was deputed to lead military troops deployed at Tuting along Indo-China border during the Chinese Aggression of 1962. The NEFA administration did not hand over the mortal remains of Moyong to his family, which is still a concern among family members.
Late Moyong's wife, Opet Moyong died while waiting to see due recognition of Late Eda Moyong as a martyr.
Grandson of Moyong, Orik Moyong in Dec 2015 had submitted a petition to East Siang Deputy Commissioner, demanding due recognition of late Eda Moyong as a martyr. The East Siang administration has already forwarded a letter to Upper Siang Deputy Commissioner for ground report.
The family members later moved Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju and appealed him to take up the issue with Union government. He had also submitted memorandum to Chief Minister Pema Khandu, East Arunachal MP, Ninong Ering and all MLAs of East Siang district and sought their action for granting due recognition of late Moyong as a martyr.
Born in 1910, Moyong had grown up at Adi Pasi village in present Upper Siang district. Joining as a PI in the 1945, he discharged his duty till his last breath.
Govt. to sponsor 'Ride to Light' cycling expedition
ITANAGAR, Sep 18: The 'Ride to Light' cycling expedition that covered 300 km across Lohit, Dibang and Lower Dibang Valley districts this year to provide basic lightings to people living in remote and far flung areas under "Batti Project" will get sponsorship from the State Government from next year.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who also holds the Tourism Department, agreed to sponsor the expedition after he was briefed about the state's cycling tourism potential that could turn Arunachal into major cycling tourism hotspot of the country.
Merwyn Coutinho of "Batti Project" held a discussion in this regard with the Chief Minister in presence of Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Parliamentary Secretaries Pasang Dorjee Sona, Bamang Felix and Mutchu Mithi.
Mithi said the cycling expedition, if made an annual event, could turn into a popular event similar to that of 'Tour De France', where cyclists from all over the world participate.
The cycling routes in the lap of pristine nature can attract even the die- hard cycling enthusiasts around the world, if promoted properly, said Merwyn. He informed that Lada in East Kameng is the next destination identified for the "Batti Project".
Solar lighting equipments are distributed to households having without electricity connection/supply under the project.
Also participating in the discussion, Secretary IT Sonam Chombey expressed the confidence that the event could be made popular with support of the state government.
On sourcing support for solar lighting equipment for Batti Project, he suggested that the state government could approach Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). He also suggested that Youth Affairs Department should be entrusted to take up the cycling expedition.
Secretary Finance Ashis Kundra suggested for wide publicity of the event on government websites and social media for promotion of the event. He also suggested on taking help from public and private sector companies under their CSR activities to fund such expeditions.

Arunachal to work towards UNESCO site, says dept
ITANAGAR, Sept 18: The three days motivational training programme cum review meeting for District Tourism Officers (DTO's) of Arunachal Pradesh, with the theme "Arunachal Pradesh Tourism, The Way Forward" ended on Saturday at Kaziranga, the World Heritage Site.
A mission for the Tourism Department was set up by the DTO's to work towards making the entire state of Arunachal Pradesh a UNESCO World Heritage Site, based on the Natural Resource Diversity and the Community Tradition in Nature Conservation.
The DTOs posted in the different districts of the state and at Guwahati and Mohanbari in Assam took the pledge towards achieving their goals being the interface between the local communities, policy makers and the tourists.
Director, Karma Leki appreciated the mission and assured that he would try and organize all support.
Assistant Director, Bengia Manna Sonam said that initiative was the first of its kind as she sought the support of the people to make the state a World Heritage Site.
The program which was conducted by Association for Conservation & Tourism (ACT) was led by programme coordinators Soumyadeep Datta, Sunil Chauhan and Raj Basu.
Kamal Medhi and Jaya of WWF-India, Ghanshyam Ozah and Rimpi Dekabaruah from NEST and Shishir Adhikary from Help Tourism were other resource persons who shared their models with the DTOs.
Save KGBVs for education of girl child

ROING, Sept 18: It is quite amazing to see that despite lot of emphasis and awareness being created on girls education by centre by launching programmes like 'BETI BACHAO, BETI PADHAO', the future of the KGBVs in the State looks very grim due to non release of funds since last academic session, 2015-16.
Looking into the pathetic and deplorable condition of the KGBVs functioning in Arunachal Pradesh , due to non-release of funds for last 08 months in case of Maintenance fund of the boarders; 02 months' arrear salary of the teachers for the month of April and May, 2015-16 and other heads since June, 2015, the President of All Arunachal Pradesh KGBV Welfare Association Tamuk Tania appealed to Chief Minister Pema Khandu to look into the matter sympathetically by arranging release of fund.
Earlier, on Sept 2, while interacting with the team of Arunachal Pradesh Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalya Welfare Association led by Tamuk Tania and commenting on the representation submitted, Chief Minister assured them of fund on top priority infusing blood and vitality into the ailing KGBVs because of fund crunch.
However, even after a lapse of couple of weeks, there seems no visible outcome or steps taken in this direction.
Association said that MHRD has already released funds for the KGBVs for the 2016-17 session.
Delay in fund release for months together by the State and Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt of India, has caused enormous difficulties in running the schools. Had the schools been located in plain and soft areas, it would have been manageable by any means. But, as the schools are located almost in the remotest part of the country confronting harsh weather condition and inhospitable terrains, it creates multiple hindrances in managing the schools smoothly. The vision and mission of imparting value based quality education to the rural economically and socially backward girl students seems to be hollow and meaningless.
If the same trend continues without any positive intervention from the Govt, KGBV Schools will have to be closed down.
Run for Badminton:
Mudang Omo,Yanu Ruyi wins Run for Badminton Marathon
ITANAGAR, Sept 18: With an endeavor to promote and popularize badminton in the state, the Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) organized the final marathon race with theme "Run For Badminton" on September 17.
Hundreds of runners, including, old and young, mothers and students participated in the race with great enthusiasm, which culminated in front of the Raj Bhawan Badminton Stadium, Itanagar.
The race was organized in two categories-men and women.
Yanu Ruyi, a 12-year-old student from Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy (Chimpu) won the race in women's category with a timing of 51:03 minutes.
Obur Siboh (51:25 mins) and Soni Nalo (54:28 mins) came in second and third positions respectively.
In men's category, Mudang Omo of Ziro won the race. He took 38:43 minutes to complete the race.
Omo was the winner of 'Jaag Arunachal Bhaag Arunachal' Marathon race organized by Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress in November last year.
Karbu Kena (39:20 mins) and Bamo Tayang (40:03 mins) finished second and third respectively.
The winners in both men and women categories were awarded cash prizes of Rs.30,000 each and the second and third place finishers were awarded Rs.20,000 and Rs.10,000 each respectively along with certificates.
Consolation prizes of Rs.5000 each was also awarded to top seven finishers in both categories.

Gyaneswor Singh from Manipur flagged off the race at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun at 6 am.
Prizes to the winners were distributed by ASBA president Ratu Techi, Secretary Bamang Tago, BAI representative H. Gyaneswor, MLA Karbak and Director of Sport Tadar Appa.
All the members of ASBA were present on the occasion.
ASBA organized the event (Run for Badminton) at district level a week ago in association with respective district administrations and badminton associations, which received overwhelming response across the state.
According to the assessment report, around 45,000 people participated in Run for Badminton across the state, claimed ASBA.

Young Generation FC and Borum FC register wins
ITANAGAR, Sept 18: Young Generation FC and Borum FC registered wins, while Arunachal United FC and Max IX FC drew against each other in the seventh day of the Vishwakarma Football Trophy being held at KV No.2 playground here on Saturday.
In the first match played between Young Generation and BN, Young Generation defeated BN by 4-3 goals. Kamku Tawe, Tsering Sherpa and Mintu Sarkar scored goals in the match.
In the second match, Borum United FC defeated C.R.Y FC by 1-0 goal. Tara Tana was the lone scorer for Borum United FC.
Kage Dodum and Tagio Raju scored a goal each for Arunachal United FC and Max IX FC respectively.
On Monday, Forest Co-operation will play against Group Boys, 2nd H.S.U. against Hard Core Jumpers and 3rd Max IX will play against Borum United.
All India Police Badminton Championship
ITANAGAR, Sept 18: The 9th All India Police Badminton Championship 2016 will begin at SAI Indoor Stadium, NEHU campus, Shillong on September 19.
188 shuttlers from 31 teams, including 6 teams from Central Armed Police Forces, 4 teams from Central Police Organisations and 21 teams from State/UT Police Organisations of the country are participating in the three days championship.
The CRPF team won the team championship title in last year's tournament hosted by SSB in New Delhi.
The tournament is organized by Meghalaya Police under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board.
One missing in Dikrong River
ITANAGAR, Sept 18: One school boy identified as Kengam Doye remains missing while two boys were rescued by the State police with the NDRF team from Dikrong River at Midpu on Sunday afternoon. The search and rescue operation will resume on Monday early morning, according to information by SP Papum Pare, Tumme Amo.
He said that NEEPCO has been asked to minimize the release of water to the river while the rescue operation is on.
On receiving the information about incident, the Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare Tai Kaye and SP Tumme Amo along with District Disaster Management Officer Preetha Menon rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. District administration with the help of police personnel, NDRF, parents, relatives and public of the Doimukh area are putting their effort to trace out the missing boy. (DIPRO)
Engineer killed by wild elephant
ITANAGAR, Sept 18: Junior Engineer (APEDA) Nabam Heina was killed by wild elephant at Harmuty-Gumto Road near Gumto check gate on Sept 16 night.
The Confederation of Service Association of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) informed that the engineer was killed while returning to his native village Emchi,
along with a staff from Pasighat in his private Santro car. The staff escaped unhurt.
Secretary General (CoSAAP) Gonya Riba met the family members of Late Heina on Saturday to extend solidarity and condolences on behalf of entire state Govt. employees.
CoSAAAP has demanded ex gratia as per existing norms and absorption of a family member in government job on compassionate ground as late Heina was only the bread earner of the family.
Further, CoSAAAP demanded the state forest department to make strategy to neutralize the rogue wild elephant so that such unfortunate and untoward incident is not repeated.
Late Heina was recruited as JE in APEDA in February'2006 and was presently posted at Hayuliang, Anjaw District. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.
Late Nabam Heina who was passionate about studies did diploma in engineering from Tamil Nadu, B. Tech from J.R.N Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, BA from RGU and LLB from Arunachal Law Academy, informs CoSAAP.
APEDA has expressed their shock over the tragic incident and offered condolence to the bereaved family members and relatives.
In its condolence message, the Arunachal Pradesh Junior Engineers' Welfare Association said that Late Hiena was an active and a dynamic member of the association.
Hand over Pul suicide case to CBI: ACS
ITANAGAR, Sep 18: Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) has demanded that State Government to hand over the case of suicide of former minister Kalikho Pul for impartial investigation.
One month has passed, but the progress made in the investigation is still not known, ACS said in its representation addressed to the Chief Minister stated.
ACS further demanded disclosure of the 60 pages notes written by late Kalikho Pul and also expressed apprehension that the sealed documents can be manipulated.
APB&OCWWB holds board meeting
ITANAGAR, Sept 18: The Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Worker Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) Itanagar held its 17th board meeting on Saturday at a city hotel here.
Minister, RWD, Labour cum Chairman of the board, Kumar Waii called on all board members to take decisions that would benefit labourers directly. He also directed the officials of the board to implement all decisions of the board in a fair and transparent manner.
Waii also hoped that the quantum of registration would increase largely from the present 25000. Calling for intensifying the registration of all labourers to cover all eligible workers in every corner of the state, Waii said that pace of registration is too slow.
The meeting was attended by the eight members of the board which included Member Secretary, Ojing Darung, Dy. Secy Law, G. Bomjen, Dy.Secy Finance, Dani Pyaro, Director works, BRO, M.K Mishra, SW Hydropower and three members representing the workers and officials of the board.
Legal awareness camp at Roing
Roing, Sept 18: A Legal Awareness camp aimed to improve awareness among students was held at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Roing on Saturday by Lower Dibang District Legal Services Authority.
RTI, POCSO, Juvenile, Consumer Protection, Motor Vehicle Acts and general provision of IPC and CrPC were covered during the programme.

Blood Donation Camp and Plantation
GERUKAMUKH, Sept 18: A Blood Donation Camp and Plantation drive was organized by NHPC on Saturday at Subansiri Lower Project as well as its Corporate Office at Faridabad and across all its power stations, projects, regional offices and units.
Twenty voluntary donors have donated their blood at Donation Camp at Subansiri Lower Project which was organized in coordination with District Civil Hospital, Dhemaji.
Besides NHPC employees, CISF personnel posted at Subansiri Lower Project also donated blood on the occasion.
Later in the day, a plantation drive was also organized in the project in which the employees planted saplings of various eco-friendly trees in designated sites in the campus.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director, SLP Rakesh said that blood donation is a highly noble gesture which has many benefits and praised the donors who had come forward to donate.

APYC demands immediate suspension of DSP
ITANAGAR, Sept 18: Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) demanded immediate suspension of DSP Bhalukpong, Gotombuu Dajangju for allegedly assaulting general secretary (APYC) Kalley Rijuju at Tippi in West Kameng on September 14.
According to APYC vice president Hake Tako, a "small" road accident involving two vehicles had taken place at Tippi near Bhalukpong at around 11 pm on September 13. The matter was about to be sorted out by both the parties. But the DSP intervened and allegedly beat up Rijuju with help of some local youths, APYC alleged.
A team of APYC visited the accident site and the victims and raised the issue with the local people as well Sajlong Elite Society (SES), which assured to settle the case amicably, the APYC leader said.
"Four days have passed, but there has been no fruitful action," he said.
APYC demanded immediate registration of the FIR at Bhalukpong Police Station and put the DSP under suspension until the investigation is over.
APYC would place the demand before the DGP for immediate action failing which it will launch democratic movement, he added.
Meanwhile, Kalley Rijuju has been shifted from Bhalukpong to RK Mission Itanagar for better treatment, he informed.
Meeting held to restore power supply in Tali
ITANAGAR, Sep 18: A coordination meeting to restore power supply in Tali was held at the residence of Tali MLA, Markio Tado on Saturday.
The 11KV Trunk line from Yangte to Tali is defunct since last one year due to natural calamities. The line could not be restored till now due to shortage of man power as well as materials.
MLA Tado consented to look into the costs involved in the clearing of the jungle and related expenses.
Stating that the main reason for non-maintenance of Yangte-Tali line is due to shortage of man power, a decision was made to recruit a team of younger staff for the work on temporary basis.
Further, it was also decided to construct MIBT Labour Camp at Yangte HQ, Yorda and Kuwa which would be taken up by the MLA at the appropriate level. Decision was also taken to procure vehicles for maintenance works.
Executive Engineer (E), Kurung Kumey Electrical Division, Sangram, Assistant Engineer (E)-in-charge Tali Electrical Sub-Division and Junior Engineer (E), Tali Electrical Section were present in the meeting.
Lessons on Tai Khampti scripts begins
NAMSAI, Sept 18: Lessons on revised tonal Tai Khampti script began at Kongmu Kham, Namsai.
The Tai Khampti Singpho Council has extended greetings to the team TKLC and TKH&LS headed by Ven. Vimalatissa, the abbot of Kongmu Kham and Chow Kalingna Mannoi and CM Mongmaw, for their untiring works to make it happen. PASIGHAT, Sept 18: Fresh efforts are now being put to make Pasighat a Smart City.
Informing about the latest effort, Chief Councilor, Pasighat Municipal Council, Kaling Doruk said that he along with Director, Town Planning & Municipal Affairs, A. Morang are presently in New Delhi for the cause.
They have already called on MoS for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju to urge him to convince Union Urban Development Ministry to select Pasighat as a Smart City.

Orgs seeks thorough investigation, job
ITANAGAR, Sept 18: The All Bamin Welfare Society, Capital Complex unit has called for thorough investigation into the death of sub-inspector late Hano Chatung.
"He was a sincere and brave officer and was posted in sensitive areas like Balijan as Office-in-Charge. It is very unlikely that he would have committed suicide in this manner. Even if he has committed suicide it must be thoroughly investigated to find out what prompted him to take this extreme step," stated Society.
The society also earnestly appealed state govt to grant ex-gratia to the family of the deceased and provide a job to the wife of late police officer as she has to take care of a son and daughter. The society also welcomed the decision of state government to constitute one man magisterial enquiry committee to investigate the death.
While, All Bamin Employees Welfare Society (ABEWS), Ziro has demanded the state government to grant ex-gratia to the family of deceased police officer and provide a job to his wife.
Remembering the deceased as a sincere and dedicated police officer and an active member of ABEWS, the society stated that the death was a great loss.
Further, the ABEWS stated that the enquiry should be done effectively.

Civilian-
The recent report of ITBP jawans allegedly molesting schools girls at Ganga village in Itanagar is matter of deep concern. As per the media report when girls were going home after tuition the jawans tried to molest them. The report also says that earlier too such incidents have been reported. ITBP has huge sprawling campus adjacent to Ganga village. Infact the land for campus was donated by villagers. Incidents like this will seriously impact the relation between civilian and military. The ITBP should take strong action against such erring jawans.
Keeping Chinese angle in mind, the government of India has started massive militarization of Arunachal. Army has been acquiring land across the state. The setting up of military establishment in civilian areas should be discouraged. It can lead to confrontation over several issues. The incident like that of Ganga village will force local people to revolt against military establishment. Also the Indian Air Force (IAF) is antagonizing people of Arunachal by not allowing civilian use of the Advance Landing Ground (ALG). Eight ALGs spreading across state has been made operationalized by the IAF. People of Pasighat and Ziro have been demanding for construction of civilian terminal in the respective ALGs. Despite assurance till date no any initiative has been taken in this regard. People have voluntarily donated land free of cost for construction of these ALGs. The negligence on the part of IAF will deeply hurt the emotion of local people.

3rd dirtiest city of India, which it genuinely is. Our capital town is one of the
dirtiest places in the country. We lack civic sense and in spite of several steps
taken by the Govt. to improve the surroundings, it seems our people are determined

One of the dirtiest colonies of capital complex is Gandhi Market area. There is an abandoned public toilet in Gandhi market which is now used for keeping pigs thereby polluting the entire area. It has become very difficult for the people residing in the locality to stay in their houses.
Dwellers appeal the concern authority to remove the abandoned public toilet from the present location. Further, some people in the locality have their toilets without septic tanks, and dispose their excreta in the nearby drain, which adds to the woes of the locality.

Ensure no laxity
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I want to articulate my apprehension over the possibility of mobile phone usage for malpractice in the G.K paper of the A.E (civil) exam to be conducted by the APPSC on September 24 and 25.
As the G.K paper is objective in nature and its answers are easily available in the net, the chances of keeping such devices secretly to augment one's score by hook or crook in the forthcoming exam can't be ruled out.
Thus, it is imperative that the commission should adopt stringent preventive measures to thwart any such malicious attempt and ensure no laxity on their part in this regard.

Of late, a very regressive fairness cream advertisement is frequenting electronic media. The product is being endorsed by a Bollywood celebrity. The target of the advertisement is to brainwash impressionable minds to believe that so long as a man remains dark, girls will only force him to work but do not come closer to him. Such an advertisement is as harmful for our society as it gets. It promotes apartheid and lowers the dignity of labour at one go. How long will such lethal advertisement be allowed to broadcast hatred against dark complexion and blue collar jobs?

Illogical appointments
Dear Editor,
The appointment of too many Parliamentary Secretaries at this juncture shows the indifference of the Arunachal Government towards its financial woes.
On the one hand it is cash-
These appointments could have been put on hold. Anyway, the post of uncountable Parliamentary Secretary is sinecure and redundant. Clearly the ruling party is rewarding its protégés for their loyalty to it rather than for their usefulness.
It is ironic that the government has no money for recruiting teachers and doctors. But it has no compunction in wasting money on white elephants. This shows where its priorities lie.
